New interest for Powell

Kameron Powell is making news in two ways.
First, the 2015 defensive back recently transferred from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., to Upland and secondly he's receiving some serious new interest in his recruitment.

"I've been hearing from a few schools," Powell said. "I've been getting a lot of letters from Arizona State and I got some letters from Oregon and Colorado State, too.
"All three of those schools said starting September 1 they're going to send even more letters and that they want to get to know me as a player. That's pretty big to me and I'm definitely excited about it."
The new interest is definitely big for Powell, a 5-foot-11, 178-pound prospect who had some good showings on the summer circuit and also looked good at the Rivals Camp Series in Los Angeles this spring.
So far, Oregon State and Washington have offered the 2015 prospect and he said there is high interest in both programs.
"Washington has been very good," Powell said. "They talk to me and my mom and they seem very interested. Oregon State has been the same as well."
Since his junior season has not even started and he's busy transferring schools, Powell does not want to name any favorites. Plus, with the new interest from two Pac-12 teams in Arizona State and Oregon, he's ready to sit back and see what happens before naming frontrunners.
"I'm wide open," Powell said. "No favorites right now."
