After a long summer of camps and all-star events, the new and updated Rivals250 was released this week, featuring plenty of big moves both up and down the list. But some of the prospects whose excellent offseason’s helped them add a coveted fourth star didn’t quite make the cut for the Rivals250. Today, we look at those prospects and explain why they earned an additional star.

"Shrout does not have much varsity experience but he was great at the Battle at the Beach 7-on-7 tournament this summer and a bunch of NFL coaches raved about his ability at the QB Collective Camp. I have liked Shrout for some time seeing him on the circuit out here. He's poised for a big senior season. Cal knows how to develop quarterbacks." – Rivals.com National recruiting analyst Adam Gorney

"Ezeike is one of the best-looking prospects in the West this year. Whether he stays as a huge wide receiver or develops into a tight end, either way he's going to be a special target in any offense. He runs really well for his size and he has soft hands to make difficult catches. Texas A&M, Oregon, UCLA, USC and others are involved." – Gorney

“A Florida State commit, Adams lacks elite size and he didn’t exactly set the world on fire as a junior. That said, he looked impressive against solid competition at FSU’s offseason camp and seems to have added strength as well. He’ll be asked to prove his ranking in season ahead but he’s shown quite a bit of promise already.” – Rivals.com Southeast recruiting analyst Rob Cassidy

"Murray had a fantastic spring and then an even better summer and he deserves to be among the top interior linemen not only in the West but nationally. He has a great power base, excellent technique and he drives defensive linemen back at will. Notre Dame, Stanford, UCLA, Washington and others are high on his list." – Gorney

“Duncan is a huge piece of Maryland's recruiting class. His size, athleticism, and tenacity are exceptional and he is nowhere close to reaching his ceiling. Offensive linemen like Duncan are exactly what college coaches are looking for.” – Rivals.com Mid-Atlantic recruiting analyst Adam Friedman

“A relative newcomer to the game of football, Redmond has shown remarkable progression in his game this off-season and looks poised for a big senior season. The Oklahoma commit lacks ideal height to be an edge rusher, but he is a plus-athlete who is learning to utilize his skill set better as his technique improves.” – Rivals.com Midwest recruiting analyst Josh Helmholdt

"Mauga is a relentless, attacking, fearless linebacker who makes plays all over the field. He aggressively goes after running backs, he can cover in space and the USC commit is non-stop motion at all times. I really liked him during a 7-on-7 this spring in Las Vegas and then early in his senior season, he's been equally impressive." – Gorney

"Not much was really known about Anusiem before this offseason because he plays at a high school that doesn't regularly produce a ton of top talent, but I only needed one camp to see how special he could be. It was at the UCLA Elite Camp where Anusiem not only showed excellent range and size but he moved better than almost any defensive back there. Every year, California produces sort of under-the-radar DBs like Sidney Jones and Kevin King, who ended up as stars at Washington, and Anusiem could be next in line. He's committed to Cal." – Gorney

“Bishop had a big summer. Not only did he commit to Mississippi State, but he also shined at the LSU camp and did enough to earn a fourth star. He has great size, his speed is a strength, and he has shown he can run with top wideouts and cover.” – Rivals.com Southeast recruiting analyst Chad Simmons

“Cornerbacks with Boykin's size are at a premium and his instincts make him a potentially special prospect. The Maryland commit's technique is a bit raw but there is no doubting his speed, leaping abilities, and anticipation.” – Friedman

"Irvin is a physical, fast, hard-hitting safety who can make plays all over the field and covers like a cornerback. I liked him a lot last season and then really loved him this summer, especially at the Battle at the Beach 7-on-7 tournament. He breaks on the ball and plays fearlessly on the back end which I love to see. Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, UCLA and many others are in the mix." – Gorney

"First and foremost, Holland is a playmaker on the back end. In coverage, the Oregon commit is phenomenal and is always around the ball either picking it off, knocking it down or making it incredibly difficult for receivers to create any space. He needs to get more physically developed but that will come with time. He had a great spring and summer and deserves a big bump in the rankings." – Gorney

“Flanagan is a top athlete who has shown the ability to make plays on both sides of the ball. While he put up big numbers on offense last season, after evaluating him further, the Arkansas commit looks like a true SEC safety. He added a fourth star and took over as the state of Arkansas' No. 1 prospect.” – Simmons

“The versatile athlete does it all for his high school team, from playing quarterback to running back an even filling in on defense. But what finally helped Bolden earn his fourth star was his progression as a wide receiver, a position he dominated at during camp stops over the summer. The Alabama commit’s hands plus impressive speed showed that he belonged in the elite group of four-star athletes.” – Rivals.com Southeast recruiting analyst Woody Wommack
