In-state programs Ole Miss and Mississippi State continue to be the only scholarship offers for Rivals100 cornerback Charles Mitchell, but another SEC West program has been stepping up its interest in recent weeks.
"I don't have any new offers," Mitchell said. "It's pretty much the same. The same schools are the ones coming after me hard, though Alabama has gotten stronger with their attention yesterday."
Bo Davis is recruiting Mitchell for the Crimson Tide.
"They want me to come to their camp," he said. "But it's on the same day as the LSU camp and so I told them that I couldn't make it because I am already going down to LSU that day.
"They've been telling me that the defensive secondary is going to be improved because of (head coach) Nick Saban and that they think I could benefit by going there."
Alabama has yet to offer the 5-foot-11, 187-pound Mitchell a scholarship, but if they did where would the Tide stand?
"It would definitely put them up there," he said. "I am pretty interested in that school."
LSU also continues to be somewhat in the picture, though it appears that for the time being the Tigers have backed off.
"I haven't really been talking to LSU a lot," Mitchell said. "In fact, I haven't gotten a letter from them in a while."
Ole Miss and Mississippi State continue to pursue Mitchell hard. Tony Hughes is recruiting for the Rebels while Melvin Smith is leading the charge for the Bulldogs.
"They are still saying the same thing," he said. "They still send me text messages and letters all the time."
Mitchell continues to claim no favorite.
"I am still wide open," he said. "I hope to decide after or during my senior season."
Mitchell is the nation's seventh-ranked cornerback prospect and the No. 2 overall prospect in the state of Mississippi according to Rivals.com.
