Nevada standout makes the call

One player we really liked at the SoCal Nike Camp was Henderson (Nev.) Green Valley defensive back Brett Johnson. Johnson tripped to Cal and UCLA the past two weekends and said he made his choice this morning.
"I committed to Cal," Johnson said. "Really, there wasn't a lot separating the two. I love the campuses and coaching staffs at both schools. Both are good academically and I think the future of the football programs are going in the right direction at both schools. The one thing that separated Cal was the position I'll be playing.

"Cal wants me strictly for safety and that's where I want to play. UCLA said they want me as kind of a combination safety/linebacker and said they really wouldn't know where I would start out until I get there in the fall. I really see myself strictly as a safety and don't think I can carry enough weight to play linebacker. So that was really the main reason right there, Cal wanted me at the position I wanted to play."
Johnson, 6-2, 183 pounds is a very impressive athlete who clocked a 4.56 in the 40, 4.31 in the shuttle and jumped 39 inches in the vertical at the Nike Camp in San Diego last summer.
