Nevada athlete gets offer

Las Vegas, Nevada is one of the nation’s fastest growing cities. It only stands to reason that the desert oasis would start to develop good crops of D-I football players. One player who will attract visitors to Vegas for more taking in a show or a chance to try their luck in a casino will be athlete Jarrell Harrison (6-2 ½, 200, 4.6) from Las Vegas (Nev.) Palo Verde.
Harrison was selected first-team all-league and second-team all-area as a quarterback. He runs the double wing offense to a tee. He racked up 754 rushing yards and scored five touchdowns on the ground.

Through the air he completed 25 passes out 49 attempts for 508 yards and 11 touchdowns against only three interceptions.
On the defensive side of the ball as a safety, Harrison accounted for 64 tackles, three interceptions, two pass breakups and one sack.
Harrison benches 265, squats 375, cleans 215 and has been timed electronically in the 40 at 4.6. He has been timed in the 100 in 10.9.
“We play him as quarterback because he’s our best athlete,” Palo Verde head coach Darwin Rost said. “He projects as a safety or wide receiver on the collegiate level. Jarrell could even play outside linebacker for some systems.”
Harrison will be a three-year starter at quarterback when he takes his first snap this fall. He will also play and start at strong safety as a senior.
To give you an indication on the athletic prowess of Harrison, he even punted and kicked in the regional championship game. He actually beat out the starting place-kicker and punter during the week of the regional championship game.
“You want to play your best players when you get into a championship situation,” Rost said. “He was our best kicker.”
“We won the regional championship because of Jarrell’s play,” Rost said “He’s such a good athlete that he was the starting point guard for the state championship team.”
UNLV has offered him a scholarship while Syracuse, Texas, Miami, ASU, Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, Cal, Utah, Utah State and Nevada are all showing interest in the talented athlete from Las Vegas.
