Netter lands first offer

Santa Rosa (Calif.) Cardinal Newman is off to a strong start and some are even calling this Cardinal team the best in school history. Talented offensive lineman Alex Netter is one of the reasons for the Cardinals success and just picked up his first scholarship offer last night.
Netter, 6-4, 250 pounds plays left tackle for Cardinal Newman and has the size, long arms and athleticism to play the position at the next level as well. He has a great frame and is not even close to tapping his vast potential as a football player.

"I just turned 17 at the end of the summer so I'm pretty young for my grade," Netter said. "I'm really looking forward to getting involved in a college strength and conditioning program because I have the kind of frame that will just explode in a few years."
The Cardinals are 3-0 on the season with wins over Modesto (Calif.) Central Catholic, Loomis (Calif.) Del Oro, and Union City (Calif.) James Logan, three of the top teams in Northern CA this year. Cardinal Newman is currently ranked No. 4 in the Bay Area and if the season ended today, would likely be the NorCal representative in the Div III state title game.
"We could end up facing Oaks Christian with Jimmy Clausen and Marc Tyler," Netter said. "Right now though, our entire focus is just on getting better each week and preparing for our week four opponent."
On the recruiting front, Netter has received calls this month from Fresno State, San Diego State, UC Davis, Princeton, Brown, Army, Columbia and UNLV. Arizona and TCU are also actively writing and UNLV was at a practice last week.
"I just talked to Coach Hill at Fresno State and he offered me," Netter said. "It was very exciting and I had a great time talking with him. Coach Hill got me very excited about the Fresno State football program and the future. I also set up an official visit with them for (Dec. 15) and I'm looking forward to that. It will be great to meet Coach Hill in person and see what the program has to offer.
"Right now, I'm just enjoying the recruiting process. I'm just now sending out my senior film and Fresno State was the first school to respond and an offer came out of it. I want to wait until after the season to take my trips so I can keep my focus on our football season. Right now, I'm basically down to six schools- Fresno State, San Diego State, UNLV, Stanford, Arizona and TCU."
