Word started to filter out late last night that four-star and Rivals100 pick Reggie Nelson had committed to Florida. However, when reached last night, Nelson said he promised he would give the scoop to his local newspaper.
But now it’s out – Nelson is officially a Gator.
Nelson, the No. 61 player in the country, picked UF over Florida State, LSU and Miami. He visited Florida back on January 17.
“Coach Zook is a really down to earth guy,” Nelson said. “He was always up front and honest with me about where I would fit in and what my status would be on the depth chart and with the players. I liked that.”
Nelson has a 2.7 grade point average and is still trying to pass the SAT. But he definitely has passing marks on the field. He helped Palm Bay string together two of the most impressive seasons in the Southeast the past two years with his game-breaking ability.
