The Latest: Tyler Shelvin spent the fall focusing on his high school season, meaning he missed a lot of time on the recruiting trail. The longtime LSU commit is now looking to make up for lost time, with hopes of taking at least two official visits next month before settling on a final decision. Rivals.com caught up with Shelvin to get his take on his plans leading into National Signing Day.

In His Words: "I’m still taking visits. I haven’t taken one yet but after this I’ll be ready to take my visits. I’m going to go the campuses and see what they look like, get a look at their academics because I’m a student first and foremost. I want to do business and I’m just looking for the best support system that I can have a college away from home."

Nebraska: “Yeah I’ve been talking to Coach Parrella we plan to take a visit. I think after the Under Armour Game. I’ve been talking to Keyshawn, Jr. and he said he’s going to be my host and I just can’t wait to get up there. He said I need to get up there ASAP and he’s telling me how good the coaches are … he’s a good guy.”

LSU: “It’s been the same as usual. Coach O and done a good job of stepping in. I like what I’m seeing with Coach Aranada and the defensive scheme they’re running with the players they have. I like it so far. Coach O is great with the family and he’s like a second dad with me. He came to the house, ate Gumbo and we have fun. He knows it’s business but at the same time he treats me just like a son.”

Rivals Reaction: Shelvin has been committed to the Tigers for so long it’s hard to see him going anywhere else, but that hasn’t stopped Nebraska from trying to flip him. The Huskers commits and the staff are both hard at work and it will be interesting to see what happens if he indeed does take that official visit to Lincoln. Meanwhile, LSU continues to recruit him hard and fans should feel encouraged about his affinity for new head coach Ed Ogeron.
