Nebraska sets the bar for Reese

Farmington, Mich., linebacker David Reese took his first official visit this weekend to Nebraska, and saw a wild finish to the Cornhusker's Saturday night game.

"It was over my expectations, actually," Reese said after the visit. "That was a huge win against an undefeated, Top 10 ranked team in Michigan State. The crowd was crazy, the noise in the stadium was through the roof and the defense played great, besides two long runs. I never have been to a game so loud."
The 6-foot-1, 238-pound Reese was particularly keyed in on the linebacker play throughout Saturday's game.
"I really see myself in that defense because Coach (Trent) Bray allows his linebackers to play fast and the reads aren't that hard," Reese said. "We went over film before the game and he showed me drill work of what the LBs do. You could actually see that in real life."
A three-star middle linebacker prospect who is eligible to graduate mid-year and enroll this January, Reese analyzed how he would fit into the situation were he to pick Nebraska.
"They have a true freshman in Dedrick (Young) that is starting at linebacker right now," Reese said. "That was my host and he was just telling me about his adjustment from Arizona to Nebraska, how he came in early, stayed focused and Coach just wants to the best players on the field. They only have four linebackers on scholarship right now, so it's an open opportunity."
Reese was joined in Lincoln by his parents as well as friend and former teammate Desmond Fitzpatrick, who was also on his official visit this weekend. The visit gave them a chance to evaluate not just the football, but the academic and social aspects of Nebraska.
"They set the bar pretty high," Reese said. "I had a great time, they showed me everything, answered all my parents questions about academics to life after football to what I would be doing when I get there in January.
"Lincoln is a beautiful place. The athletic director knows all the deans in the Business School. They are building a brand new Business School and they actually want their athletes to succeed there."
Reese remains a soft verbal commitment to Michigan. He has official visits scheduled to Florida for Nov. 27 and Texas for Dec. 11, and could add additional official visits to Louisville and/or Kentucky before rendering his final decision.
