Nebraska FB takes different path

Elkhorn, Neb., two-star defensive end/fullback Kevin Thomsen was slated to take an official visit to Colorado State this weekend.
But a call late last week turned his life around.

"Colorado State called and told me they didn't have an offer at my position anymore," he said. "They said they didn't have any spots left for me."
Thomsen, who is 6-foot-2 and 250 pounds, said the news was definitely disappointing, but he made the best of a bad situation.
"I then decided I'm going to walk on at Nebraska and play fullback," Thomsen said. "It ended up being a pretty good situation for me. Everything didn't go as they were planned, but in the end it ended up just fine. I'm really happy how things worked out."
Thomsen, the No. 10 player in Nebraska, was also recruited by Iowa, Iowa state, Kansas, Kansas State and Wyoming.
