NC State gets surprise visitor

Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater defensive back Tyller Roberts was flying somewhat under the radar until last week when he had a fantastic showing in the CaliFlorida Bowl down in Miami. He has picked up several impressive offers and took his first official visit to ACC country this Saturday.
"I went out to NC State on a visit this weekend," Roberts said. "I was originally scheduled to take a visit to South Florida, but I changed it to NC State. The visit went fantastic and it really moved them up my list some. I may still take my visit down to South Florida and it could be next weekend on January 14, but I'm not sure yet."

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Roberts runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds and has helped lead his team to two consecutive state finals appearances, though they came up short on both occasions.
"My host was Ronnie McCollough and he is originally from Tampa so we hit it off pretty well," Roberts said. "He knew where everything was and I felt real comfortable there. It was a great chance to see some of the other players, meet all of their coaches and check out the facilities. They really have a pretty good program going there."
He has visits scheduled to Florida on January 21 and Georgia Tech on January 28 as well and has narrowed his list down to NC State, Georgia Tech, South Florida and Florida. He attributes his recent recruiting success to the CaliFlorida Bowl.
"I have never really had a chance to play against that many players that are on that level," Roberts said. "There was a whole lot of talent at that game and it was a good chance to see where I stood against some of the top players in the whole nation."
