In an exclusive interview with Rivals.com, Alex Frye said is looking forward to testing his talents against some of the best competition in the state of North Carolina during practice for the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas this week and has set up official visits to three schools for the month of January.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder from Fayetteville (N.C.) Jack Britt will make visits to Wake Forest (Jan. 6), East Carolina (Jan. 13) and Virginia (Jan. 20).
The departure of four Cavaliers assistant coaches has not changed Frye's feelings about UVa.
"I am still very interested (in Virgina)," Frye said. "It's a great school."
Frye also said he is still wide open with regards to his final college choice.
At the Shrine Bowl, Frye will get a look at free safety for the Tar Heel squad. He was an all-conference selection at cornerback during his high school team with 16 pass break-ups and three interceptions.
"It's a very prestigious place to be it," Frye said. "You have to work hard to get here. A lot of the kids here have the same amount of talent. Obviously I had a lot of the characteristics they look for in their team."
Frye and his North Carolina teammates will begin practice for their showdown with South Carolina at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Dorman High.
