NC QB Hooker closing in on big offers
One of the most talked about underclassmen prospects in North Carolina is sophomore quarterback Hendon Hooker. The Greensboro (N.C.) Dudley standout is close to landing his first offer and it could come from a school that has done very well in the state of North Carolina.
"I really like the way Clemson runs their offense and the way coaches communicate with you," said the 6-foot-5, 195-pound Hooker. "They really work with you. They've talked to me about what my interests are."
Two other schools may not be far from offering Hooker as well.
"North Carolina and Florida State are close to offering," he said. "I want to get down to Florida State and talk to them. I think I could fit in their system.
"I visited North Carolina once," said Hooker. "I talked to coach Fedora. He's a down to earth guy and kept it real with me. We had a general conversation about different things and talked sports."
Hooker, who is hoping to take a few visits to see some spring games, was listed as one of the best underclassmen quarterbacks from the Atlanta Rivals Quarterback Challenge Presented by Under Armour.
Last season, Hooker accounted for about 1,400 yards passing, close to 1,500 yards rushing and 23 total touchdowns.
