NC guard adds offer, names leaders

Wilmington (N.C.) Hobgood Academy offensive guard Jonathan Cooper has added his first major Division I offer. The 6-foot-3, 287-pounder picked up the scholarship from the ACC.
"I got an offer from Duke," he said. "I picked it up after the camp there on June 9th. I'm very excited about the offer and it's my biggest Division I scholarship so far. They've got a great education there."

Aside from Duke, Cooper attended camps at ECU and South Carolina and believes the Gamecocks are very close to offering too.
"I think South Carolina is about to offer," he said. "They told me they wanted to offer as soon as camp was over. They got my film and it was ruined, so I sent them another one and haven't gotten in contact with them yet.
"If they do offer that's real exciting. Playing for Steve Spurrier would be great, it doesn't get much better than that."
Cooper claims none of the offers stood out, but did mention four schools that are leading for his services at this time.
"My top four in no specific order are Wake Forest, South Carolina, Duke and ECU," he said. "Duke I can get a great education, South Carolina has great football and Wake Forest has a mix of both of those. Finally, East Carolina is a good scholarship too."
Of those favorites, little is known about Cooper's feelings towards Wake Forest. Although that'll change soon as the Carolina lineman plans to visit Winston-Salem and North Carolina in July.
"I just want to get offers from those schools on my visits," he said. "North Carolina hasn't said much, but Wake mentioned it. They are just waiting to see me in person on my visit."
