NC corner has a clear favorite

Huntersville (N.C.) Hopewell cornerback James Barksdale is receiving a variety of interest from colleges. Despite the varied interest, one Big East program is standing out from the deck according to the 5-foot-10, 160-pounder.
"I'm pretty much banking on Syracuse right now," he said. "They've been talking to my coach heavily and I'll probably go up there for summer camp. I think they'll offer and if they do I'm leaning towards them to possibly commit."

What makes the Orangemen stand out to the Carolina cornerback?
"I've had some letters from Florida State, Florida, North Carolina State, North Carolina and others, but I just moved here from Philadelphia," he said. "I don't know much about UNC or NC State. I know a lot more about Ohio State, Penn State and Syracuse.
"Specifically for Syracuse, I like their program a lot and they talk about how I can probably play early if I want to. I really like the academic standpoint too for communications and then the location is real big for me, it would be like heading back home."
Last season Barksdale registered 57 tackles, three interceptions, two sacks and 11 deflections despite missing three games to injury.
