Navasota back better than before

Navasota, Texas, running back Chris Smith averaged more than 170 yards in his first two games and got into the end zone five times. It’s no surprise that Smith, a three-star running back, is being heavily recruited for his efforts.
“Last year, I tried to run over everybody,” Smith, who is 5-foot-11 and 218 pounds, said. “Now, I know to cut and look for the open hole. If I have to, I will run over you, but I’ve learned to have better vision.”

Smith was committed at one point to TCU, but he’s backed off that pledge and is still getting attention from the Horned Frogs, Baylor and now SMU. He has offers from TCU and Baylor.
“I’m hoping to hear from Texas A&M here in the next few weeks, too,” he said. “Right now, I’m just keeping all of my options open. I’m going to see what happens with my senior year first before I worry too much about recruiting.”
