Nations top kicker sets trip

After waiting patiently for months and months for the recruiting attention to pick up things are starting to finally happen for Taylor Mehlhaff, the nation’s No. 1 kicker from Aberdeen, South Dakota.
“Taylor has picked up his first scholarship offer from Minnesota,” his father, Charlie Mehlhaff, said. “We’re going to drive over there this weekend for an official visit. We’re really excited about it. It’s going to be a good opportunity for us to see what it’s like.”

But Minnesota might not be the only ones that end up offering a scholarship. That’s because Mehlhaff has finally become the hot recruit that you’d expect for the nation’s No. 1 kicker.
“It’s hard for people to recognize that there is a player like Taylor all the way up here in South Dakota,” his father said. “But he won the Gatorade player of the year for the entire state, and that’s quite an honor.”
Other teams starting to come after Mehlhaff include Nebraska, Ohio State, Iowa and it looks like Kansas is also trying to get involved with the 5-foot-11, 180-pound three-star selection.
