Nations top junior enjoys visit to USC

The nation’s top junior football prospect Myron Rolle, a 6-2, 210 pound defensive back from Princeton (N.J.) The Hun School took an unofficial visit to USC this past weekend and despite some airport troubles, had a very good time.
“I got in around 11:00 on Friday and then my brother, my coach and I all drove down to the campus,” Rolle said. “We met with Coach McNair, he’s the one recruiting me and then hooked up with Coach Burns, the defensive backs coach.

“We watched some video of the team and they showed me how I would be used in their defense. I got to sit in some of the team meetings, watched the team practice and also watched the pep rally later that night.
“Saturday I took a tour of the campus and met with some of the academic advisers before heading over to the Coliseum for the Notre Dame. I got to go down on the sidelines before the game and then was up in the stands watching when the game started. I was very impressed with SC, they have some great athletes.
“One thing I noticed Friday at their practice and again during the game is how toned and athletic the players all look as opposed to big and bulky like some other teams. They really fly around and you can tell they have a great strength and conditioning program there. They’re also a very focused team and I could tell that from sitting in on the team meetings.
“No one is goofing around when the coaches were talking and then everything the coaches laid out for them, the players went out and executed it just like it was drawn up. I spent most of the game watching Darnell Bing, their strong safety, because that’s the position they’re recruiting me to play. He’s a good player and made a lot of plays in the game, I was impressed with him and the whole defense as a whole.
“Right now, USC is definitely a school I’m serious about. My goal is to have narrowed my list of colleges down to five by the end of the summer. Then I’ll take my official trips although I’m not sure how many I’ll take or when I’ll be ready to make a decision. The main schools I’m looking at right now are the ones that have been recruiting me the hardest like Florida State, Oklahoma, Miami, Michigan and Iowa to name a few.”
