Nations Top Center Decides

The No. 1 center in the country, Jordy Lipsey from Altamonte Springs (Fla.) Lake Brantley, was set to choose between Miami and Virginia as early as this weekend. Well, he made his choice Wednesday night.
"I committed to Virginia tonight," said the 6-foot-4, 267-pounder. "It was a very tough decision because Miami was a great visit and they're obviously the best team in the country. But Virginia has been my favorite for a while. It has the best of both worlds and I see a great future ahead of me there."

Lipsey was supposed to visit Stanford this weekend but saw no reason to take the trip.
"I knew who my favorites were and I knew in my heart I wanted to go to Virginia," he said. "Coach Heck and coach Prince did a great job recruiting me. Coach Heck was key, he's a great guy and has been in the NFL."
Lipsey said that early playing time was also a factor and he feels he can impact at Virginia early. However, the same things were all said about Randy Hand last year, the highly ranked offensive tackle from Florida who committed to UVA only to become a Gator in the end. Will the same happen with Lipsey?
"Nope, not a chance," he said. "UVA is the place for me. I have no doubts."
