College Park (Ga.) Banneker wide receiver/defensive back Carlos Thomas is a rare player as he is one of the top players in America at different positions. Today he was all set to announce his decision between Georgia, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Florida and Auburn.
“I am going to be a Yellow Jacket,” Thomas said. “They just had everything I wanted in a school. I have a lot of family history there and it is close to home.”
The 5-foot-11, 165-pound Thomas has blinding speed with a 4.41 second 40-yard dash. He also has a 4.41 second shuttle time.
“I like playing both cornerback and wide receiver, but I really want to play wide receiver in college and Georgia Tech wants me to play there,” Thomas said.
As a junior, Thomas hauled in 24 passes for over 600 yards and seven touchdowns. On defense he registered 36 tackles and two interceptions. Although he plays both ways in high school, most schools are recruiting him primarily as a wide receiver.
Thomas is ranked as the No. 75 player in the nation and the No. 8 wide receiver in America by Rivals.com. He is also ranked as the No. 4 player in Georgia.
Stay tuned, Rivals.com will have a more in-depth interview with Thomas on why he chose the Jackets over offers form Georgia, Clemson, Auburn and Florida.
