Nations No. 2 ready to join commit parade

Could the nation’s No. 2 player be joining the commitment landslide for the USC Trojans? Woodland Hills (Calif.) Taft athlete Steve Smith said he’s still not ready to commit, but does have a solid leader in mind.

“It’s USC up there,” Smith, a five-star selection that is 6-foot-1 and 191-pounds, said. “I really like USC. I’ll probably still take my visits and see what happens. But I’ve been noticing all the kids committing to SC, and it would be really nice to play with the other blue-chippers.”
But he’s not closed the door totally toward Tennessee (November 8) and Texas (October 4), even though they definitely have some ground to make up.
“I’m going to be interested to see the coaches in person and talk to them,” Smith said.
Smith did not know when Pete Carroll, Phillip Fulmer or Mack Brown are going to be in for their in-home visits.
