Nations No. 2 back sets up first visit

The first official visit is set for the nation’s No. 2 running back. So who’s the lucky first team to line up a visit with Jacksonville (Fla.) Sandalwood standout Maurice Wells.
“It’s been crazy around here tonight,” Wells, who is 5-foot-9 and 177 pounds, said. “But I’m more upset because Tallahassee Leon won’t come down here a day early to play us. We had the game canceled because of the hurricane, but we could have moved it up to tomorrow.

“But they don’t want to do it. They’re scared of us. They beat us in triple over time last year, and they don’t want a piece of us this year.”
A lot of college coaches do want a piece of Wells, though.
About half way through the evening on Wednesday, he’d already received calls from Georgia Tech, Maryland, USC, Notre Dame, Florida and he also missed a call from Ohio State.
“I did go ahead and set up my first official visit,” Wells said. “I’m going to visit USC on October 9 when they play Cal. I’m really excited about that trip. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
For the last few weeks, Wells has listed SC, along with Georgia Tech and Ohio State as his top teams. He’s also being heavily recruited by others, including Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Maryland and Notre Dame.
