National Signing Day: League breakdown

ACC
1. Florida State: Finished strong with commitments from five-star Eddie Goldman and four-stars Reggie Northrup and Ronald Darby. Still waiting on Jameis Winston and lost Dante Fowler Jr..
2. Miami: Closed strong with commitments from defensive tackle Dequan Ivery and linebacker Jawand Blue but five-star cornerback Tracy Howard was the big addition.
3. Clemson: As many expected, three-star defensive tackle and two-sport star D.J. Reader signed with Clemson on Wednesday.
4. Virginia Tech: In-state prospects Joel Caleb and Ken Ekanem, both rated four-stars, give the Hokies a big late boost. Losing Korren Kirven to Alabama stings.
5. Virginia: Didn't have any work to do given all their summer commitments. The Cavaliers were able to hold onto everyone so there was no drama here.
6. North Carolina: Rivals250 wide receiver Quinshad Davis really helps this class. Still waiting on Davonte Neal after National Signing Day.
7. Maryland: Terps were hoping to steal D.J. Reader but lost out. Can Stefon Diggs cause Maryland fans to forget about that next week?
8. Duke: Coach David Cutcliffe had a huge day with commitments from three-stars Jela Duncan, who had been favoring ECU, and Keilin Rayner.
9. N.C. State: Lost James Summers near the end of the process and don't have any work left to do.
10. Georgia Tech: Linebacker Beau Hankins is a solid late addition.
11. Boston College: The late additions of David Dudeck and Michael Giacone were solid pickups but losing Jaxon Hood, the only defensive tackle, really hurts.
12. Wake Forest: Tough signing day for the Deacs, losing out on some guys they wanted. Did manage to keep their guys on board.
Big East
1. Rutgers: Topping off the best class in school history, the Scarlet Knights grabbed five-star Darius Hamilton Tuesday night, plus three-star wide receiver Ian Thomas and three-star athlete Jevon Tyree Wednesday.
2. Louisville: While it was another strong, deep class at Louisville, no signing day fireworks occurred this year as is now expected with coach Charlie Strong's reputation.
3. West Virginia: While the Mountaineers were unable to steal Joel Caleb at the end, they continued to stockpile their offensive roster with athletic playmakers from Florida like Torry Clayton, Devonte Mathis and Devonte Robinson.
4. Pittsburgh: Despite some initial struggles after their most recent coaching change, the Panthers pulled it together, and were helped by their newest four-star commitment, Deaysean Rippy, earlier Wednesday.
5. USF: The Bulls were able to fend off numerous programs in recent weeks for both Sean Price and D'Vario Montgomery, which was a big victory for the program.
6. Cincinnati: Losing four-star Dennis Norfleet to Michigan was a big blow to the class, but coach Butch Jones was still able to bring in plenty of depth and athleticism.
7. Syracuse: The Orange continued to regain their recruiting foothold in the state of New York with this recruiting class, which included the signing day commitment of three-star defensive back Wayne Morgan.
8. Connecticut: The Huskies lost two Floridians on signing day, but were able to fill the void with sleeper defensive end Omaine Stephens from New Jersey.
Big Ten
1. Ohio State: Urban Meyer added four-star offensive tackle Kyle Dodson and three-star linebacker Jamal Marcus on Wednesday to an already impressive class.
2. Michigan: The late addition of Rivals250 running back Dennis Norfleet capped a strong first full class for head coach Brady Hoke.
3. Nebraska: Losing out on five-star Andrus Peat hurt, but the Cornhuskers did add four-star athlete Alonzo Moore and three-star defensive tackles Aaron Curry and Vincent Valentine on National Signing Day.
4. Purdue: The Boilermakers landed a surprise addition in three-star Kentucky offensive lineman Joey Warburg on Wednesday and now have 15 states represented in this class.
5. Michigan State: Signing Day week additions of wide receiver Monty Madaris and Demetrious Cox have the Spartans ending 2012 on a high note.
6. Iowa: The Hawkeyes thought they had four-star offensive lineman Alex Kozan locked up, but he has yet to sign and is reportedly still struggling with his decision.

7. Penn State: New head coach Bill O'Brien was trying to hold the Nittany Lions' class together despite also being in preparation for leading the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.
8. Northwestern: The Wildcats finished 2012 with 21 signees, and one important transfer: former five-star wide receiver Kyle Prater, who comes back home from USC.
9. Illinois: Another program that went through a coaching change in the last couple months, Illinois finished with the addition of three-star cornerback V'Angelo Bentley on signing day.
10. Wisconsin: As expected, the Badgers lost four-star commitment Kyle Dodson to Ohio State, but did replace him with three-star offensive tackle Jake Meador on Wednesday.
11. Minnesota: A couple of the Gophers' state of Florida commits have not signed, or will not sign, but head coach Jerry Kill did clean up in-state.
12. Indiana: It was a quiet National Signing Day in Bloomington, with no late additions, but the Hoosiers sign a class of 25 prospects, eight of whom are from the state of Indiana.
Big 12
1. Texas: The Longhorns closed strong in the last week and scored a stunner with Torshiro Davis on signing day.
2. Oklahoma: The Sooners loaded up on signing day with pledges from Courtney Gardner, Gary Simon and Damien Williams.
3. Texas Tech: The Red Raiders held on to all their commits and switched Casey Gladney from Alabama on signing day.
4. TCU: The Horned Frogs lost a few commits late but landed a big-time pair of teammates in James McFarland and Terrell Lathan.
5. Oklahoma State: The Cowboys signed two unexpected sleeper wide receivers in Jesse Vester and Austin Hays after losing Chance Allen to Oregon.
6. Baylor: The Bears managed to hold off other schools for four-star prospects Javonte Magee, Corey Coleman and Brian Nance.
7. Kansas State: The Wildcats went relatively heavy on junior college prospects again and four-star wide receiver Marquez Clark could have an early impact.
8. Kansas: The Jayhawk class would be rated higher if the transfers of quarterback Dayne Crist and Jake Heaps were included.
9. Iowa State: Led by three-star wide receiver Quan West, the Cyclone class was completed early in the day with no surprises.
Pac-12
1. Stanford: It was a humongous recruiting haul for the Cardinal, who landed five-stars Kyle Murphy, Andrus Peat and Aziz Shittu. Three-stars Zach Hoffpauir (Cal) and Michael Rector (Washington) flipped and four-star OG Brandon Fanaika did not switch.
2. USC: The Trojans had a great day landing five-star receiver Nelson Agholor and four-star recruits Leonard Williams and Devian Shelton. Darreus Rogers stayed with USC instead of flipping to Arizona State. It could have been amazing if Murphy, Shittu, Peat and/or Cyler Miles picked them.
3. UCLA: First-year coach Jim Mora and his staff loaded up with wide receivers Jordan Payton, who had previously been committed to USC, Cal and Washington, Javon Williams, Kenneth Walker, a former Cal commit and Georgia recruit Ahmad Harris. UCLA added Randall Goforth late in the day.
4. Oregon: The thrill didn't match De'Anthony Thomas' five-star flip last signing day but getting four-star Bralon Addison and three-star Chance Allen was a big deal for the Ducks.
5. Washington: Pio Vatuvei flipped from USC, Wallace came over from Oregon State and Hawaii lineman Shane Brostek signed. Getting Shaq Thompson is still the headline story for the Huskies. Four-star corner Brandon Beaver signed with the Huskies late.
6. Utah: The Utes landed massive offensive lineman Carlos Lozano and hours before signing day got defensive tackle Tenny Palepoi. Keeping four-star offensive lineman Cedrick Poutasi was crucial.
7. California: The Golden Bears' class got gutted in the last few weeks. There's no way around it. But keeping four-star Cedric Dozier and a handful of other four-star recruits means things are still OK. Cal also landed four-star receiver Kenny Lawler toward the end of the day. Four-star Bryce Treggs stayed committed to Cal and turned down USC and UCLA.
8. Arizona State: First-year coach Todd Graham had a solid signing day with commitments from junior college running back Marion Grice, defensive tackle Jaxon Hood and defensive back Laiu Moeakiola. The big pickup came earlier this week in D.J. Foster.
9. Colorado: It was a relatively peaceful day for the Buffaloes, who didn't get any commitments on signing day but the coaching staff did all its work in the last few weeks, which includes landing two four-star defensive backs.
10. Oregon State: Oregon State lost Devian Shelton to USC and Cleveland Wallace to Washington but the Beavers have a solid class which includes four-stars Isaac Seumalo and Caleb Smith.
11. Arizona: The Wildcats were active in first-year coach Rich Rodriguez's first signing day with commitments from Dylan Cozens, Wayne Capers, J.T. Washington and Jamar Allah. Athlete Bryan Harper was added to the class later in the day.
12. Washington State: Not much happened for the Cougars on signing day but coach Mike Leach and his staff did so much work leading up to Wednesday the class was already locked in.
SEC
1. Alabama: Nick Saban and Co. landed two Rivals250 defensive tackles Wednesday to put a stamp on a group that includes 16 players that earned four stars or more.
2. Florida: The Gators swung and missed on several big-name players Wednesday, but flipped five-star defensive end Dante Fowler from Florida State and still finished with a star-studded class.
3. Georgia: The Dawgs closed with a bang, getting a commit from five-star athlete Josh Harvey-Clemons to complement a group that includes two Rivals100 running backs - Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall.
4. Auburn: The Tigers didn't get the typical national title bump, yet still landed 11 four-star prospects, including Rivals100 offensive tackle Avery Young and receiver Ricardo Louis, and have an average recruit rating above 3.5.
5. Texas A&M: Despite having a few players flip to other schools down the stretch, the Aggies will enter their new conference with a class that is more than SEC worthy.
6. LSU: The Tigers lost one big-time commit - linebacker Torshiro Davis - to Texas on Wednesday, but landed another in Kwon Alexander to complete a solid, if not star-studded class.
7. Tennessee: The Vols finished things off by landing talented junior college receiver Cordarrelle Patterson late, which helped offset some of the sting from losing two linebacker commits in recent days.
8. South Carolina: The Gamecocks grabbed eight four-star commits, including potential difference-makers Mike Davis, a running back, and Shaq Roland, a receiver, and did very well in neighboring Georgia.
9. Vanderbilt: Despite losing four-star commit Josh Dawson to Georgia on Wednesday, the Commodores have to be pleased, particularly with their impressive work done in Tennessee.
10. Mississippi State: The Bulldogs finished with a flurry Wednesday, adding talented linebackers Richie Brown and Beniquez Brown, who should complement a stellar group of defensive linemen.
11. Missouri: The Wednesday commitment of the nation's No. 1 recruit, receiver Dorial Green-Beckham, was one for the ages in Tiger Country and gave Missouri a boost as it heads to the SEC.
12. Arkansas: The Razorbacks missed on Green-Beckham, but nonetheless have a strong group of receivers coming in. They also flipped four-star linebacker Otha Peters from the Vols.
