Favorite Schools: Florida State, Florida, Miami, LSU, Tennessee, Oklahoma.
Skinny: South Florida is traditionally one of the hot spots for college recruiters seeking explosive athletes on the defensive side of the ball, and Miami Edison figures to be a frequent destination with all-state linebacker Brouce Mompremier in the spotlight.
“He’s a national prospect getting attention from every school you can think of right now,” said Edison coach Corey Bell. “We’ve had letters from Miami, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Tennessee, Oklahoma, South Carolina, N.C. State, North Carolina, Auburn, Alabama… just about everybody. It’s a long list.”
Bell compares Mompremier to one of his former players, All-American Nate Harris, who originally signed with Miami.
“He’s a sideline-to-sideline player and a real hard-nosed hitter,” Bell said. “He’ll plug the hole between the tackles or run guys down on the outside. But his greatest asset is probably his understanding of the game and mental approach. He’s like having a coach on the field.”
According to Bell, Mompremier carries a 3.5 GPA and has scored a 20 on his ACT, making him an even more attractive prospect.
“He grew up a Florida State fan, but with all this attention he’s been getting, I think he’s wide-open at this point,” Bell said. “He’ll be going to the Nike combine at Miami, but hasn’t decided which camps he’ll go to this summer. The only one we know of is our team will be going to the 7-on-7 passing camp at USF in July.”
