N.C. State, Clemson stand out to 2017 WR

While he's still early in the process and weighing his options, Class of 2017 Charlotte (N.C.) Ardrey Kell wide receiver Ryan Jones already has offers from two of the ACC schools he's always been fond of, Clemson and N.C. State.
Both programs jumped on the 6-foot-2, 200-pound prospect early and according to Jones have stayed on him to date.

"N.C. State visits my school a lot and Clemson as well," Jones said. "Those are the two schools really showing me the most attention."
Jones said the in-state Wolfpack have let him know he's a priority and the fact that it's relatively close to home makes the school an appealing option.
"It's really close to home and I have family in Raleigh so it's nice to know that I could go to a place and still have that comfort level," he said. "It's in-state but it's far enough from home to feel like I'm still going away to college but close enough that I can see my family and they can come see me play."
The progress the Wolfpack have made over the past few years under coach Dave Doeren has impressed Jones and he said he expects it to continue to in the future.
"They're building the program up," he said. "Last season they really improved and they seem like they're getting better and better every year. I was kind of hesitant about them until they were able to do what they did last year. Coach Doeren is a great recruiter and good coach, too."
While the Wolfpack offer a bright future, Jones said Clemson's recent past is what has caught his eye.
"The tradition they have at receiver is hard to argue with," Jones said. "With guys like Sammy Watkins, Jacoby Ford, DeAndre Hopkins, they've shown that they can take wide receivers and turn them into stars so that's something that stands out to me."
Jones said he and Tigers assistant coach Jeff Scott have been able to build a nice relationship and he credits Scott with a lot of the success the school has had developing receivers in recent years.
"Coach Scott is a great coach," he said. "I like the way he teaches and the attention to detail he has so I think he will continue that as offensive coordinator. Each year you see guys he's coaching having a great year and going on to do well. It's Coach Scott, he's working with them and making them nice."
Jones said he intends to camp and visit both schools this summer, in addition to Virginia, West Virginia, Vanderbilt and a few others.
