N.C. linebacker a sack machine

Make no mistake about it, Durham (N.C.) Southern linebacker Johnny Evans can get to the quarterback.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder finished with a team-high 21 sacks during his junior season and uses his speed and tenacity to stalk the opposition. He also forced seven fumbles and had nine fumble recoveries.

"I have speed, I'm solid and I'm not afraid to make contact," he said. "I make plays on the field."
His coach, Southern head coach Jeff Parker thinks Evans is one of his best defensive players.
"Johnny is an absolute demon on defense," Parker said. "He had 21 sacks and he's an absolute terror. He's a stalwart and a good ball player and I'm excited about him for sure."
On the recruiting front, Evans does not have any scholarship offers at the moment, but is receiving attention by way of mail from Duke, N.C. State, East Carolina, Penn State and Illinois.
This spring, Evans plans to attend a Junior Day event at Middle Tennessee State and make other unofficial visits.
Evans will camp at ECU, Penn State and Duke and will attend the Clemson NIKE Camp on May 21.
