Myers has local leader

California is loaded with several talented multi-purpose players this year who excel on both sides of the ball. One of the very best is Lynwood's (Calif.) Leilyon Myers. The athlete had a solid season opener last weekend and will travel with the rest of his teammates to Nevada for a tough week two match-up.
Myers, 6-0, 190 pounds plays running back and defensive back and said he's getting the most looks as a running back which is his preference. As a junior, the athlete rushed for 1,347 yards and 15 touchdowns, caught 22 balls for 560 yards and five more scores, picked off five passes on defense, one for a touchdown and returned two punts for scores.

Lynwood beat Los Angeles (Calif.) Fremont 21-12 last weekend and Myers finished with 12 carries for 80 yards and a touchdown and also caught two balls for 18 yards and added four tackles on defense. Later tonight (Friday), the Knights will square off with Henderson (Nev.) Foothill who is 3-0 on the season and is led by running back D'Angelo Jones, one of the top backs in the West Coast class of 2007.
"They're a good team and have been putting up a lot of points on everyone," the No. 68 rated player in California said. Plus they have already played three games and we've only played one but I think we'll be OK. It should be a good game and I'm looking forward to the visit. I was hoping to be at the UCLA- Oklahoma game on Saturday but I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it or not."
Myers said UCLA is currently recruiting him the hardest and is his current leader as well.
"They were one of the first schools to offer," Myers said. "I still have the same three I had before the contact period started this month, UCLA, Utah and Colorado. I like all the schools that have offered me plus USC, LSU, Oregon and Oregon State and Arizona State. I haven't set up any visits but I want to take a trip to LSU and Colorado for sure and after that, it will depend on who offers me."
