Rayville, La., running back Richard Murphy is not only an elusive runner on the field, but he's been an elusive interview over the past couple of months. Rivals.com finally caught up with Murphy to get an update on his recruitment.
"Some of my biggest offers are LSU, Texas A&M, Florida, Auburn, Ole Miss and Southern Miss," Murphy said. "I have some others, but those are some of the main ones."
Though he hasn't narrowed down his list yet, Murphy says a decision could come sooner rather than later.
"I am thinking real hard about committing before the season," Murphy said. "I just want to get the pressure off and focus on my senior season. I really don't have a list of favorites, I'm considering everyone that has offered."
Though Murphy claims to not have any favorites, he has already taken two unofficial visits and has one more on the slate for the summer. Could this be a preview of his favorites?
"I have already been to Texas A&M and Ole Miss this summer and I am visiting LSU on July 25," Murphy said. "A&M had a huge campus and it is a really good school. I talked to coach Fran and coach Fobbs about where I fit in with them. At Ole Miss I talked to coach O and toured the campus and just learned more about the school."
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Murphy collected 2,107 yards rushing and 24 touchdowns as a junior. He had six games with over 200 yards rushing.
"The main thing my decision is going to come down to is two things," Murphy said. "The running back situation at the school and whether or not that school wants me to play running back my whole career. I want to play running back and I want to play pretty early in my career."
Murphy is ranked as the No. 4 prospect in the state of Louisiana by Rivals.com.
