Murphy close to cutting list

Kyle Murphy has not officially narrowed his list down yet but the San Clemente, Calif., offensive tackle is planning to make the cuts by the end of July and some schools are standing out.
USC, Stanford, Oregon, Cal and Florida are some of the frontrunners for Murphy, a 6-foot-7, 275-pound four-star prospect who shined this past week at The Opening in Beaverton, Ore.

Rivals.com rates Murphy sixth at his position and No. 28 in the 2012 class.
"Those are the schools that are recruiting me the hardest right now," Murphy said. "I haven't officially made a list yet or anything so I'll probably make that pretty soon.
"I'll probably narrow it down in July just because I don't want so many people calling me during the season. I'll probably take some officials and probably make a decision after the season."
The Pac-12 schools that made the list were expected but Florida was a little bit of a surprise. Murphy said he likes the way the new Gators' staff is going after him and other players.
"I've been talking to them quite a bit and they've impressed me with how they've come after kids with the new coaching staff," Murphy said.
Teams from all the major conferences have offered Murphy, one of the most consistent offensive tackles all week at The Opening.
The only players at his position rated higher on the West Coast are five-star Andrus Peat and four-star Joshua Garnett.
