Mr. Smith is going to Tempe

It looked like a big pickup for the Huskies when Bakersfield (Calif.) wide out Brandon Smith committed to Washington following his official visit (Jan. 7). Smith decided to take one more trip, to Arizona State, and after mulling the two schools over, the receiver has decided to cast his lot with the Sun Devils.
"I committed last night," Smith said. "It just felt like the best overall fit for me and I felt very comfortable with the coaches they have on staff there. I loved my visit to ASU and I like their offense a lot, they get the ball down the field.

"Washington was great as well. To be honest, it was tough deciding between the two schools. They both have a lot in common in terms of playing in the Pac 10, I like both head coaches a lot and both will be throwing the ball. After thinking everything over though, I just felt like ASU was where I would be most comfortable."
Smith, 6-2, 170 pounds is a very talented prospect with great athleticism. He clocked a 4.56 in the 40, 4.09 in the shuttle and jumped 36 inches in the vertical at the NorCal Nike Camp last summer. The Sun Devils are really closing well in this recruiting season and could finish with a top 25-30 class come Signing Day.
