Move paying off for Florida QB

In an effort to get his name out, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas quarterback Mike Mathews recently transferred to the Sunshine State school from New York. The move appears to already be paying off for the 6-foot-2, 175-pounder.
"A lot of schools are showing an interest in me," he said. "I'm getting handwritten letters from Connecticut, Vanderbilt, Rutgers, Duke, Syracuse, Purdue and there's a lot more sending form letters. No one has offered right now."

Mathews obviously has a fondness for heading back home when he discussed his leader.
"I like Rutgers a lot," he said. "That's where I used to live for family and friends and they are showing interest in me. They are playing a lot more on TV now and I've met coach Schiano."
Although the Scarlet Knights are leading, Mathews is looking at everybody. What does he want out of a college?
"I definitely want to go Division I," he said. "I do like the south where I've moved to, but if I have to go back up north I don't mind the cold either. Other than that, I want the best school that fits me."
Mathews plans to participate in the Nike Camp in South Florida.
Last season he threw for 1,400 yards, 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions on his way to all-state honors.
