Morton Twins: Back From Colorado State

This is an exceptional year for twins out West as along with the Payton’s at South Hills, Covina, Riverside (Calif.) J.W North is home to the Morton twins, Damon and Dion. The two took their first visit of the year to Colorado State this past weekend and raved about it.
The Rams are recruiting Damon as a wide receiver and his brother Dion as a receiver/cornerback. Both are about 5-10, 165 pounds, run in the mid 4.5 range in the 40 and are big time play makers on both sides of the ball. The Husklies finished their season last weekend with an undefeated 14-0 season and ranked No. 2 in the state behind only the nation’s No. 1 ranked Concord (Calif.) De La Salle.

Damon caught 64 passes this season for 1,563 yards and 19 touchdowns. He also rushed for 414 yards and scored four touchdowns and had five picks on defense. Dion was the team’s top cover corner and was often assigned the other team’s top receiver. He led the Huskies with seven interceptions and at quarterback, completed 103-160 passes for 2,344 yards and 32 touchdowns and also rushed for nearly 500 yards.
Damon was the State Sophomore of the Year and both twins are two of the eight finalists for State Player of the Year.
“Colorado State was cool,” Damon said. “It was our first trip so we didn’t really know what to expect but it was nice. We liked the campus, the city, Fort Collins is a cool little college town. The coaches are great and we just had a good feeling there. There were about six players total on the trip and everyone got along really well.
“We’re going to visit Colorado (Jan. 9) and Arizona (Jan. 16). Arizona is the only one that hasn’t offered yet. We’re going to take these last two trips and then we should be ready to make our decision sometime in late January. We’re definitely going to the same school, that’s not even a question.”
