Morgan set to name top five

Crete-Monee (Ill.) linebacker Nyles Morgan has been open about his top couple schools for several months, but this weekend the four-star prospect is set to nail down a top five.
"I am announcing [a top five] September 1st," Morgan reported. "I am still working on that list."

As he looks at who to include in his top five, Morgan is subjecting each team to a series of criteria.
"I would say first of all, I'm looking for a winning program or a program I can see having a good future by the time I get there," he said. "Also, having a good education and the atmosphere."
Once his top five is in place, Morgan will look to schedule official visits with those schools. Two of those official visits spots - and by extension two of the spots in his top five - are already locked up.
"I know I am making official visits to Vanderbilt and Ole Miss so far," Morgan said. "They might be during the season, but I have to check my schedule as well."
Ole Miss was also the last place Morgan visited, taking a trip down there the weekend of Aug. 10. He met up with two of his former Crete-Monee teammates - wide receiver Laquon Treadwell and defensive back Anthony Standifer - while on the visit.
"I enjoyed my visit down there," Morgan said. "I was hanging with Quon and Chewy and just enjoyed myself."
Morgan has maintained that he would like to announce his decision in January at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
