Morgan picks up first two offers

Rivals100 to watch athlete Tony Morgan, from Garner (N.C.) High, recently picked up his first two verbal scholarship offers. One came from a local Atlantic Coast Conference program while another came from a Southeastern Conference program that has been recruiting the Tar Heel State heavily during the past year.
"I got my first two offers," he said. "Last week, I got one from South Carolina and then Saturday I got an offer from North Carolina."

The Gamecocks, who signed five-star receiver Chris Culliver out of Garner on National Signing Day, were the first to offer.
"It felt kind of good," Morgan said. "I have a fellow teammate and he's a great player and he's going to South Carolina. It felt good that I've got a teammate already down there. I was interested in South Carolina. They are rebuilding down there and are bringing in some great players."
The versatile Morgan, who could potentially play a number of positions in college, didn't know what position the Gamecocks offered him at.
"I don't know if it's for defensive back or running back," he said.

The North Carolina offer came this week and was met with equal enthusiasm.
"That made me feel good, too," Morgan said. "That's an in-state college and it's not far from home. They are trying to rebuild and to get a lot of prospects from inside North Carolina. I feel good about that one, too."
Ken Browning is recruiting Morgan for the Heels.
Other programs have been in touch with Morgan.
"Virginia's been sending me texts," he said. "UConn and Colorado also have been texting me, too. Ohio State invited me to my junior camp and Notre Dame is showing some interest."
There aren't any early favorites for Morgan,
"Right now, I'm just looking at everything," he said. "My goal was to get a scholarship, so I accomplished one of my goals."
Morgan has a busy schedule in the coming weeks. He will attend the Charlotte NIKE Combine on Feb. 24 and will head to Columbia, S.C., for South Carolina's Junior Day on March 3.
