More to come for Markway

It's early for Kyle Markway. This is the infancy of his recruitment.
The 2015 tight end holds just two scholarship offers and hasn't played a down of his junior season. There won't be a snap decision or a hyper-early commitment here. Markway intends to wait.

That doesn't mean he won't weigh his options, though. The St. Louis (Mo.) St. John Vianney junior-to-be will visit Iowa over the weekend. The Hawkeyes offered Markway a scholarship months ago, and now he'll take another up-close look.
"I'm actually headed to Iowa today," Markway said via text on Friday. "They are having just the offer prospects come up for the weekend."
The school responsible for Markway's other offer, Indiana, will also receive an unofficial visit in the near future. Markway plans to make his way to Bloomington early next month and intends to possibly emerge from that trip with an early favorite in mind.
"I don't have a favorite yet because I haven't been on Indiana's campus," Markway said. "I know they are both great schools with some good opportunities."
Then, there are the outliers -- the schools that have interest in Markway's services but are yet to pull the trigger on an offer. Tennessee and Missouri lead that pack for now, and each is ramping up its recruiting effort. The Tigers hold an advantage, though. Should Gary Pinkel's program decide to offer, things could get interesting.
"I've always been a Mizzou fan since I'm from Missouri and have been to some games and just really like it," Markway said. "They said they want to wait and see my first couple games of my junior season until they make their decision, but they really liked what they saw at their camp."
There's also a bit of a history, be it distant, pulling Markway toward the Tigers. His great grandfather donned a leather helmet and played on both sides of the ball for Missouri in the 30s. That's not to say he'll pull the trigger on the spot if an offer arrives, though. His commitment will come in time.
"I want to wait until my senior season just so I can experience all the college trips," Markway said. "I want to be able to make the right decision and not rush."
