More Pac-12 interest for 2019 ATH Isaiah Rutherford

Isaiah Rutherford made quite a statement this summer.

The 2019 three-star athlete from Carmichael (Calif.) Jesuit camped at Alabama this summer and landed his first offer from the Crimson Tide.

No non-Power Five schools offered at that time. No Pac-12 schools. Rutherford’s first offer came from the top program in all of college football.

Shortly after the Crimson Tide got in the mix, Oregon State became the second offer for Rutherford, who is being recruited as a defensive back but also played running back in his sophomore season.

And now more Pac-12 powers are poking around and showing new interest in the 2019 prospect.

“USC and Oregon (are showing interest),” Rutherford said.

“Oregon said they’re offering soon as well as Cal. USC has been asking for transcripts and talking to my coach.”

Since Rutherford’s recruitment has really just started, the Northern California prospect is planning to take his time and not rush a thing at this point.

“I'm staying open,” Rutherford said.

As for unofficial visits, the 2019 prospect could be busy this fall.

Rutherford said he’s planning to return to Tuscaloosa to see an Alabama game – his 7on7 coach was also involved with Alabama five-star RB Najee Harris – and trips to Corvallis and Berkeley are also expected this season.

He’d also like to see one other Pac-12 school, especially if an offer comes through soon.

“Hopefully, I can catch some USC games, too,” Rutherford said. “That would be cool.”
