More offers for Hedgepeth

Derby, Kan., coach Brandon Clark has been a busy man the past few days. Schools have been flocking to his office to visit with him about his star defensive back Devin Hedgepeth.
After landing an earlier offer from Kansas State, the 6-foot, 187-pounder added offers from Air Force and Colorado State this week.

Some coaches initially expressed concern about Hedgepeth's 4.8-second 40-yard dash time that was recorded at the U.S. Army National Combine.
But after they saw Hedgepeth in person and then saw his track results, many schools have quickly changed their tune.
"They kept asking about his speed, and I'm not sure if they took my word or not on how fast he really is," Clark said.
"We've timed him here at 4.5 in the 40. Then he ran a 10.9-electronic 100-meters and then they finally started getting serious. That proved to people that he's got legit speed and just basically had a bad day at the combine."
Hedgepeth said he's excited about the new offers.
"It feels good to get some more schools interested in me," he said. "I'm interested in everybody that's looking at me now."
Hedgepeth will be in Manhattan, Kan., this weekend to visit K-State for the Wildcats' spring game.
"I can't wait to get up there," Hedgepeth said. "It should be a lot of fun."
