Three-star cornerback James Scales visited two camps in the past couple weeks. The 5-foot-10, 179-pounder still holds four offers, but is beginning to think about official visits.
"I was just at Vanderbilt this weekend for camp," he said. "It went really well. I was really surprised with the city and campus. I didn't think it would be that nice.
"The coaches there told me they really liked me and I should be hearing back from them this week about whether they'll offer."
Scales holds four offers from Duke, Kentucky, Louisville and Oregon at this time.
One other school may be on the verge of offering as well.
"I went to Virginia's camp about a week or so ago," he said. "Virginia was good. I got to see more of their campus and it's real nice. The coaches there were cool and told me I should be hearing back from them soon too."
The No. 29 cornerback in the country is looking at a visit to Ohio in the near future.
Does anyone lead at this time?
"It's still hard to say right now," he said. "I do think I know three officials this fall. I plan to go to Louisville, Oregon and probably Virginia. I want to visit those for officials because I think we are pretty much on the same page. I want to get a better feel for the schools before I make a decision."
