Moorman spends two days at Illinois

Northville, Mich., offensive tackle David Moorman picked up his Illinois offer during a game visit last fall, but didn't see much outside of the game. This weekend the three-star was back on campus and got the full tour.
"I went down there last night for an unofficial overnight," Moorman said. "I got to go out with the players, check out campus and get a feel for the environment."

A southeast Michigan native, Moorman was paired up with an Illini player who hails from southwest Michigan.
"My host last night was Tyler White, a tight end from Kalamazoo (Mich.)," Moorman said. "I hung out with him and it was cool to be with another Michigan guy. His roommate was Wes (Lunt). It was cool hanging out with those guys, seeing the campus and what being a player at Illinois is all about.
"When you are with the players you get to see how everything works and the inside and out of the program. They all said nothing about good things about the coaches. They love the way Coach Beckman runs the program and how he cares about the players. They just love everything about Illinois and are proud to play football for them."
Illinois hosted several recruits on-campus Saturday, but with Moorman coming in a day early it gave him more time with the coaching staff.
"I got a lot of one-on-one time with Coach (Tim) Beckman and Coach (A.J.) Ricker. [Beckman] is really a father-figure. He really stresses the Illinois family and how the whole football program is a family. I can really tell that he cares about the program and he just wants to win."
Illinois is one of seven schools that have already extended an offer to the 6-foot-6, 285-pound Moorman, and after his second visit to the campus the Illini are sitting high on his list.
"Right now, based off all my offers, they are definitely at the top of the list," Moorman said. "Even if I do get more offers they are definitely going to be among my top schools toward the end when I decide everything."
Besides the schools that have offered, in-state programs Michigan and Michigan State are also in regular contact.
"I am going to UofM this next Saturday and then back to MSU the following Saturday," Moorman said. "They both keep telling me to be patient and good things will happen. I'm just trying to get better, stay patient and hopefully I can prove to them this summer and fall I deserve an offer."
The other six schools that have offered Moorman are Cincinnati, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Ohio, Toledo and Western Michigan.
