Montgomery still torn

Rancho Cordova (Calif.) Cordova running back James Montgomery has had a solid week of practice in preparation for this weekends CaliFlorida Bowl. The talented runner told us a few weeks ago he thought he might be ready to make his college choice this Saturday at the game but that is no longer the case.
Montgomery, 5-10, 185 pounds committed to Washington back in the summer but always maintained he wanted to take a few official visits prior to signing in February. The athlete visited Oregon and Cal and said the Huskies and Bears are sitting dead even right now.

"Honestly, it's as close as can be, it's 50-50," Montgomery said. "I really don't know what I'm going to do. I have a lot of different people in my ear right now and I just need more time to make a decision.
"I was hoping to be able to decide by this weekend but there is just no way I'll be able to do that. I'm actually trying not to think too much about it right now. I think I just need to get my mind off everything regarding college and that's why it's been good for me to be out here this week.
"I've had a really good time so far and it has been fun to just hang out with some of the guys. There is a lot of talent out here and I feel I've been doing pretty well. We have a strong defense but the last few days, the offense has picked things up and I think we'll be good to go by Saturday."
Montgomery is a north-south runner who doesn't try to finesse it too much. He runs hard and has a nice burst through the hole. He won't shy away from contact and will try to be the one to deliver the blow rather than take one. Some in the Sacramento area have called him the best running back to come out of the city since Onterrio Smith.
