Montgomery sees demand increase with Arkansas offer

Ken Montgomery

Ken Montgomery isn’t some under-the-radar secret.

It’s hard to overlook a 6-foot-2 cornerback, and the class-of-2018 prospect is just that. He holds roughly 20 scholarship offers and more seem to arrive by the day. So when it became permissible for college coaches to contact juniors last week, Montgomery became popular.

“I heard from LSU, Tennessee, Florida State, Vandy, and a lot other schools [on the first day],” Montgomery said.

Montgomery says he intends to visit whichever schools recruit him the hardest from this point forward. He’s hesitant to name names for the time being and even more shy when it comes to naming frontrunners. The Tampa (Fla.) Hillsborough High School star is careful not to get ahead of himself.

“There are no schools leading in my recruitment at all,” he said.

One of the new arrivals in Montgomery’s recruitment is Arkansas, which pulled the trigger on an offer last week. On that front, the defensive back still has plenty to investigate, but he has a default opinion on the Razorbacks.

“I think Arkansas is very well rounded team,” Montgomery said. “I think they can help me in the near future helping me become a better man and football player.”

RIVALS REACTION: Montgomery’s offer list is full of heavy hitters, but he’s made very few recruiting visits. The last trip he took was to Kentucky for the Wildcats’ summer prospect camp. Projecting where he may land at this point is difficult to say the least. Things with him could shift if the in-state programs get involved in the coming year.
