Monk a do-it-all athlete

Wylie, Texas, athlete Jerod Monk is a 6-foot-5, 230-pounder that can do it all.
Playing quarterback last season he threw for 1,822 yards and nine touchdowns. He also rushed for an additional 294 yards and that has sparked interest in him from several schools.

"I have an offer UTEP, and an oral offer from Kansas State," Monk, who has a self-reported 4.7-second time in the 40-yard dash, said.
"Kansas has also indicated they are interested in me. I don't have any favorites right now. I talk to Kansas State the most. I have taken a visit to Kansas and Kansas State. They were really nice schools."
Monk camped this summer at both UTEP and TCU. He said it was at TCU's camp where he got a shot to work out at a new position – tight end. And that's something that he enjoyed quite a bit.
"At the TCU camp they want me to play tight end and they like my skills at tight end," he said. "I would be interested in playing tight end, too. I like quarterback because I control the offense. As a tight end it's fun trying to get open. I just started talking to TCU and they are going to try and get an offer to me next week. If TCU offered me they would probably be in the middle of the pack."
"As far as playing tight end goes I can go play tight end if I like hurt my arm or something. It's something to fall back on."
Monk said he isn't sure what his commitment timetable will be.
"If I find the right place and the right time that's when I will commit," he said. "I kind of want to hear from Houston. I have got a couple letters from them that's about it."
Monk said he can't wait for the start of his senior season.
"We open against Hebron," he said. "They beat us last year and we want to beat them this year. I'm also excited for the Plano game. They beat us pretty bad last year and we have a lot of hurt feelings about that game."
