"I went to two games," Mixon said. "I went to their games against Ohio State and Minnesota. I like the atmosphere up there."
Mixon has also scheduled his official visit with the Wolverines.
"I visit there Dec. 2," Mixon said. "That will be the only official visit I take."
Mixon and a number of his teammates attended Michigan's summer football camp and that played a role in his decision.
"I got to see everything at the camp," Mixon said. "I got to know the coaches and a lot of the players there. I really liked it."
Asked about his first year at Michigan, Mixon said, "I really don't want to redshirt. I haven't really talked about it yet with the coaches. I'll do that on my official visit."
The 6-foot-2 and 220-pound Mixon is is the No. 8 inside linebacker prospect in the Rivals.com player rankings, and the No. 11 prospect in the state of Ohio.
