Mixon lands major Big Ten offer

Joe Mixon just started talking to Ohio State this past weekend and already the 2014 running back from Oakley (Calif.) Freedom has an offer from the Buckeyes.
That was fast - and Mixon said Ohio State is already a favorite.

"We started talking on Sunday," Mixon said.
"They kind of hinted that it was coming but once they saw my highlight tape that's what really set them off."
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound four-star prospect said he wants to take a trip to Ohio State to see what the campus and the football program are like but he's pretty sure the Buckeyes are going to be high on his list.
Getting to Columbus is important but Mixon already seems enamored by the program's tradition and coach Urban Meyer.
"I want to see the environment," Mixon said. "I want to get down there and see the environment. I know Ohio State is going to be one of the top schools though.
"It's Ohio State and it's Urban Meyer. They're one of the top programs in the nation every year. It's crazy. I'm just honored to have an offer from them."
More interest is coming in all the time and Mixon said he's recently talked more with Alabama and Missouri. The four-star standout said the Crimson Tide coaches want him to call back on Friday.
Mixon, who shined at the Army National Combine in San Antonio recently, has seen his recruitment take off in recent weeks.
He now has more than 20 offers from many of the nation's top programs and more could be coming in at any time.
"It's been crazy," Mixon said.
