Mixon could land SEC offer

Joe Mixon has been one of the hottest names in the 2014 class in California and things could pick up even more soon.
The Oakley (Calif.) Freedom standout had a strong performance at the Army National Combine in San Antonio last week and he said an offer from the SEC could be coming soon.

Former Washington assistant coach Joel Thomas is a new addition to the Arkansas staff and Mixon has stayed in touch with him during the transition. The Razorbacks might extend an offer soon.
"I'm pretty sure I could get another offer from Arkansas in January," Mixon said. "He was the Washington coach and he's the one that offered me so I'm thinking I could get that offer. He's going to ask his boss if he can offer me.
"That would be big. That's the SEC and I want to play with the best."
So far, the 6-foot, 180-pound four-star prospect has landed offers from Arizona State, Cal, Colorado, Michigan, Oregon State and Washington.
Mixon has visited Cal a few times and he's also seen Stanford but the Cardinal is not currently recruiting him.
Visits will be important as Mixon makes his decision and he said upcoming unofficial visits to Washington, Nebraska and Arizona State are possible.
An official visit to Michigan is also crucial for Mixon since he's said numerous times the Wolverines definitely pique his interest.
"I have to go to Michigan," Mixon said. "I love the environment there. They have more than 100,000 at each game and that's big. I'm probably going to go to Nebraska, too.
"I'm pretty much going to take it slow, wait out all my offers and do what's best for me. I'm planning to take all my visits and I want to take some unofficial visits, too, so I can see what I like."
