Missouri RB has big leader

O'Fallon (Mo.) Fort Zumwalt West running back Carl Gettis is one of the fastest rising players in the St. Louis area and that's attracted the attention of college coaches from the Big 12 and the MAC lately. But it's one Big 12 team that has a major lead.
"I've been talking to Kansas State, Missouri and Miami of Ohio, but that's all that's been calling me lately," Gettis, who is 5-foot-10 and 187 pounds, said. "Missouri has offered me, and I'm still thinking about committing, but I'm trying to wait a little longer. I don't know why I'll have a decision."

Gettis said the Miami coaches have talked to him about an offer, but he doesn't know what to think if the Redhawks do.
"It would make me think about it more, and I would have to go look at Miami them," he said.
But there's no question Mizzou has the leg up. He was at the Tigers' big victory over Kansas State this past weekend. Even though the game was played in a constant drizzle, Gettis said he really liked it.
"I enjoyed it," he said. "We got to check out the meeting rooms and the indoor facility. The only two things that we didn't really get to check out were the weight room and the locker room, but I'm going back for the Oklahoma game so I'll see them then."
"I talked to coach Ford and coach Yost after the game. They were just talking about trying to get me down there and how they really want me to become a Tiger. They like the things I can do with the football. They said I could be a big playmaker for them."
Speaking of big, Gettis has a big prediction for the Tigers' game Saturday against Oklahoma.
"I think they'll probably win 24 to 21," Gettis said. "It will be a close game."
Gettis on Friday had a solid game, racking up 22 carries for 160 yards and two scores.
