It appears New Madrid is set to make another run at a state title game. One of their keys this year will be Remond Willis.
After camping at Illinois the linebacker has decided to make an early college choice.

“He has verbally committed to Ron Turner and Illinois,” Pixley said. “He fits their scheme. They use a lot of linebackers who are 6-1 and 6-2 types. They are looking for linebackers and he’s a hot commodity for them.”
Willis at 6-2, 200, ran well this summer at camps. He turned in a 4.52 at Illinois and broke 4.5 at the Arkansas camp.
Pixley said that Illinois was the first to offer Willis and that others were waiting.
“He’s excited about Illinois,” Pixley said. “Missouri said they wanted to evaluate him longer. So he took the early offer from Illinois. He is pumped about it.”
This marks the second player from New Madrid to make an early commitment. Edgar Givens has committed to Missouri and a third, Mack Kimble, could get an offer soon.
