Missouri LB gets first offer

Bonne Terre (Mo.) North County linebacker Will Compton was recently named MVP for the linebackers at the NIKE Training Camp held at Purdue University. The impressive day helped him earn his first scholarship offer on Friday.
"Illinois just offered me," Compton, who is 6-foot-2 and 211 pounds, said."It's an really exciting offer. Illinois is a very good program that plays in the Big Ten. That's a big-time conference, and it's a real honor to get an offer from a program like that."

Compton said he thinks he's also close to landing another offer, too.
"Missouri coach Gary Pinkel came by the school last week, and they're going to review my tape and should have some news for me sometime this week," Compton said. "Now that would also be a great offer to get. Missouri is a very good program, plus it's close to home."
Compton hopes to draw even more attention with a solid summer of attending quite a few camps.
"Right after the Notre Dame camp on June 2nd, I'll be at Missouri's one day camp on June 3rd," Compton said.
"I have the Kansas State camp down for the 24th, so I'll probably go for a few days. I'm planning on going to Wake Forest and Arkansas camps as well. Iowa wants me to come up, but their elite camp will be during my team's camp, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it there. Depending on who else comes into the picture, there may be some other schools I camp with as well."
