Mississippi WR ready for new offers

Starkville (Miss.) wide receiver Antonio McCoy could be on the verge of some new scholarship offers if his recent home calls are any indication.
“I’m getting a few more calls than I did earlier this season,” he said. “Southern Miss just recently started talking to me. Their head coach called. He said I could be a real big-play guy for them, so it kind of sounded to me like they may be ready to offer.

“Memphis’ wide receiver coach calls a lot, too. I like him and the way he talks. Ole Miss has been calling a lot and having me there for a couple of games. I went to see them play Texas Tech and Alabama.”
McCoy (6-1, 170, 4.5) has an offer on the table from Mississippi State. He plans to see the Bulldogs this weekend against Alabama.
“I’m pretty open right now,” he said. “I’m watching to see who State hires as the next coach. That could be interesting.
“I really like Ole Miss and their coaches. I like the way they play. Any receiver would like to play in their offense.”
McCoy has caught 25 passes for more than 400 yards and four touchdowns this season in helping lead Starkville to an 8-2 record.
Academically, he maintains a 2.8 GPA and has scored a 22 on his ACT.
