Mareese Rose has received calls
from his favorite college team in recent weeks.
"Mississippi State is showing the most
interest," he said. "They've called a few times and seem to really like me.
I'm hurt right now, so I don't think they're ready to offer a scholarship,
but they said they're going to be keeping up with me, watching a couple of
my games."
He's also receiving interest from Ole Miss,
Southern Miss, LSU, Indiana and Marshall. His current list of favorites
includes those schools, plus his "dream team," Florida.
"I haven't heard much from them since
spring, though," he said. "I'm hoping I can have a big year from this point
on and maybe get them interested in me again."
Rose (6-1, 180, 4.6) has played in only
half of one game this season. He fractured his elbow while making a tackle
in the season opener.
"I knew I was hurt at the time I did it,
but it didn't feel too bad until the next day," he said. "I've been wearing
a cast since then, so I missed our last three games. I should be ready to go
on Friday, though. I'm ready to get back on the field and play again. I
can't wait."
As a junior at Madison Central, he caught
40 passes for 600 yards and five touchdowns.
